AIT IN SOCIETY, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategy

This post doesn’t showcase major technological milestones and is focused on how we have collaborated in various social aspects within the realm of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) over the past few years.

More than a couple of years ago, we decided not to be mere spectators and to “have a plan” regarding the impact Ait has on society (beyond business, quality work, or taxes). To achieve this, we conducted a thorough examination of what we do and can potentially do. We underwent an audit and certification process as an Ethical and Socially Responsible company, in addition to implementing an equality plan.

WE HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO DIFFERENT SDGS SUCH AS POVERTY ALLEVIATION, ERADICATION OF HUNGER, HEALTH, EDUCATION, GENDER EQUALITY, DECENT WORK, PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY WITH INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE, ENVIRONMENT, AND CLIMATE ACTION, AMONG OTHERS…

SOME OF THE ACTIONS TAKEN INCLUDE:

  • In the Health sector, we have worked in various ways:
Employees voluntarily donated their Christmas baskets to various charitable causes, and the company matched the value with an additional donation.
Subsidized actions have primarily focused on the health sector, including contributions to “GAVI Alliance” for vaccines, Gerna for rare diseases (http://enfermedadespocofrecuentes.org/), PID foundation for immunology (https://www.pidfoundationbcn.org/es), Doctors Without Borders (https://www.msf.es), and Saray Foundation for breast cancer (https://www.asociacionsaray.com/).
Additionally, we have sponsored health-conscious activities such as supporting sports clubs like CD Cortes or the Handball Club Bardenas.
  • PHOTOVOLTAIC GENERATION
We installed a 35KW self-consumption photovoltaic system, along with 6 electric vehicle charging stations with a maximum power of 22KW. We also added an electric vehicle to Ait’s fleet. Other small actions include waste separation and recycling, collection of materials and oils by authorized agents for reuse, and the replacement of disposable coffee cups with conventional ones.
  • SOCIAL ACTIONS have been carried out in various areas. In the educational field, we have agreements and actively collaborate with the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) and the Polytechnic Integrated Center “ETI.”

Additionally, we actively participate in the Ribera Business Association (AER), Navarra Association of Labor Companies (ANEL), and we are members of both the National Center for Food Technology (CNTA) and EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering Design Group).

Some members also participate in mentoring networks through ANEL.

We have collaborated with local schools in the Lego robotics championship in the years:
2012 First Lego League with a project for hospital beds with lateral axis oscillation. 2013 with a project for sewers to prevent openings or losses during natural disasters like floods. 2014 with a project for an ergonomic desk.

Finally, we firmly believe that we are fighting against poverty and hunger. We continuously work on improving current processes, reject the idea that “everything has already been invented,” and have achieved:

  • Reduction of food waste by introducing customized cutting of vegetables based on their morphology.
  • Reduction of food processing costs, and therefore, the final cost on supermarket shelves.
  • Worked on the automation of broccoli harvesting.
  • Engaged in various projects for the utilization of food waste.
